About the British Helicopter Association
A not-for-profit trade association serving the UK civil helicopter and rotorcraft industry since 1969.
Our story
The Association was originally established in 1969 as the British Helicopter Advisory Board. As the UK rotorcraft sector grew and matured, the organisation broadened its scope and was renamed The British Helicopter Association Limited on 18 November 2008. Today it continues the same core purpose: to support the long-term health, safety and professionalism of the UK civil helicopter community.
Our mission
- To represent the collective interests of the UK rotorcraft industry.
- To promote and support a strong safety culture.
- To engage constructively with regulators, government and other industry bodies.
- To provide a forum for member organisations and individuals to share information and best practice.
- To support the future of vertical flight, including innovation and sustainability.
Governance
The Association is a private company limited by guarantee, with no share capital, registered in England and Wales. It is governed by its members and operates on a not-for-profit basis. Registered office and corporate filings are publicly available via Companies House.
